15 months

I can’t believe Grace is already 15 months old! She now weighs a whopping 19.5 lbs (5th percentile) and is 29 7/8 inches long (25th percentile). She continues to be a healthy little peanut, although a bit low on her iron. I’ve been trying to give her iron supplement drops for a while, but she hates them. The dr suggested we put the drops in chocolate pudding – no dice, she spit the first bite out. Trying to figure out the next food item to disguise the drops. Any ideas?

I didn’t make a New Year’s resolution, but I have been trying to cook healthier and more often. I find that my days with Grace run smoothly until about 4 when I start to think about preparing dinner and she starts to get clingy. She doesn’t really want me to hold her, but she also doesn’t want me to do anything where she isn’t the focus. I probably should start doing meal prep earlier in the day, but I have yet to get that productive. I did try two yummy big.gest los.er recipes this week – pork tenderloin and cauliflower. They were quick, easy and healthy – exactly the kind of recipe I am looking for. I am trying to build my recipe box with these types of recipes to if you have any please post!

We found that our daughter just wanted to be involved and watch us cook, so we would bring her high chair in so she could see what we were doing. When she got a bit older, we let her stand on a step stool to watch and help. I don't know if that would help with the cooking clinginess.

EEEEEKKKKK!!! I am just catching up with your news!!!! How exciting.

Yeah, have the "witching hours" here, too. Right around 4/4:30 when I need to start tidying up from a day's worth of playing and make dinner, that's when Will becomes super clingy. My favorite way to combat that are to make meals that can be made earlier in the day (durign a nap time or even while he's eating lunch or a snack) and just baked/cooked at dinner time, freezer meals (that I have made ahead and just pull out), and my crockpot. I have a crockpot chicken chili recipe that I really like that I got when I was doing Weight Watchers. It's 3 cans of beans (I use 2 of black beans and one of pinto, but you can use any combo or all 3 of one kind), a can of corn, 1 c. salsa (I use mild for Will's sake), a packet of taco seasoning (I use the low sodium), and then three raw chicken breasts cut into cubes. Cook on high for four hours or low for 6 - 8. It's super easy and tastes great! You can also do this over the stove top if you don't have a crockpot. Just saute chicken cubes, add rest ingredients and simmer until ready (about an hour, but more just makes it better).

Oops, sorry, the above is 2 points for a 1 and 1/2 c. serving. Not sure what that is as far as calorie/fat breakdown, but could probably google it?
